Keeping Temperatures Under Control

Following on from last month’s tips on how to maintain the perfect environment, here are some tips on keeping your temperatures under control.
- Use LED lighting – Lower heat output, better light spectrum, and dimmable.
- Dimmable ballasts – Turn your ballast down from 600W to 400W or even 250W to reduce heat within the room.
- Check your bulbs – Old bulbs run less efficiently then new. This causes more heat. Change bulbs every 3 crops. Run lights at cooler time of day, ideally 6pm to 6am.
- Check for bugs – Bugs reproduce much faster in warm weather, are much more prevalent and may do serious damage to your plants. If using a spray, ensure you cover ALL of the plant and re-spray every 4 days to break the hatching cycle. Spray half an hour before lights go out for best results.
