Athena IPW

Athena IPW – Integrated Plant Wash (Formerly IPM)

Athena IPW (Integrated Plant Wash) is a specialist foliar wash designed to clean plant leaves and support good plant care throughout the growing cycle. Formerly known as Athena IPM, this easy-to-use liquid formula helps remove accumulated dust, pollutants and unwanted surface residues from plant foliage.

Formulated using essential oil-derived ingredients, Athena IPW is designed to reach leaf surfaces and difficult-to-access areas of plant foliage, helping growers maintain a cleaner, healthier-looking canopy.

Clean leaves are important for healthy plant development. By helping remove unwanted surface deposits, Athena IPW supports good foliage maintenance and helps keep plants looking their best.

Suitable for use as part of a regular plant care programme, Athena IPW is particularly useful for growers maintaining indoor gardens, greenhouses and controlled growing environments.

Key Features & Benefits

• Specialist foliar wash: Designed to clean plant leaves and remove accumulated surface residues.
• Formerly Athena IPM: Updated Integrated Plant Wash branding.
• Essential oil-derived ingredients: Formulated for horticultural foliage cleaning applications.
• Cleaner foliage: Helps remove dust, pollutants and unwanted deposits from leaf surfaces.

Why Use Athena IPW?

Plant leaves are constantly exposed to their surrounding environment. Over time, dust, airborne particles and other residues can accumulate on leaf surfaces, particularly in indoor growing spaces with circulating fans and ventilation systems.

Keeping foliage clean is an important part of general plant maintenance. Leaves are responsible for photosynthesis, gas exchange and several other essential processes that support healthy growth.

Athena IPW provides growers with a convenient foliar washing product designed to help remove unwanted surface deposits without the need to manually clean individual leaves.

Its liquid formulation allows growers to apply the product across the canopy, including areas around leaf edges and undersides where dust and other residues may accumulate.

What Is the Difference Between Athena IPW and Athena IPM?

Athena IPW stands for Integrated Plant Wash and is the newer product name associated with Athena's previous IPM range.

The current IPW product is promoted by Athena primarily as a foliage wash, designed to clean and improve the appearance of plant leaves.

Older Athena IPM instructions may refer to insect and mildew treatments. These should not automatically be treated as approved applications for the current IPW product.

Always check the instructions supplied with your bottle and follow the permitted uses for your location.

How to Use Athena IPW

Athena IPW is designed for diluted foliar application. The correct mixing strength and application frequency should follow the instructions supplied with the current product.

1. Prepare a clean spray bottle or suitable foliar sprayer.
2. Fill the sprayer with the required amount of clean water.
3. Measure and add Athena IPW according to the current product label.
4. Mix thoroughly to ensure an even solution.
5. Switch off or dim intense grow lighting before spraying, where appropriate.
6. Apply an even coating to the permitted foliage surfaces, following the manufacturer's instructions.
7. Allow foliage to dry before returning plants to intense lighting conditions.
8. Repeat applications only at the frequency specified by the current product label.

Important: Always test on a small area of foliage before treating an entire crop, particularly when working with sensitive plants or unfamiliar varieties.

Application Guidance

Application rates from older Athena IPM instructions should not be substituted for the current IPW instructions without confirmation from the manufacturer.

Maintaining Clean & Healthy Foliage

Regular plant inspection and foliage maintenance can help growers identify developing problems before they become more difficult to manage.

Alongside suitable leaf cleaning products, maintaining the correct growing environment is essential for healthy plant development.

• Air circulation: Maintain suitable airflow around and through the plant canopy.
• Humidity control: Avoid prolonged periods of excessive humidity and condensation.
• Regular inspection: Check both sides of leaves for unusual marks, damage or unwanted deposits.
• Good hygiene: Keep growing areas, equipment and tools clean.
• Suitable irrigation: Avoid prolonged waterlogging and maintain healthy root zone conditions.
• Appropriate lighting: Provide suitable light levels for the crop and stage of development.

Athena IPW can form part of this general maintenance routine, helping growers keep foliage clean and maintain a well-managed growing environment.
