Quick Guide to Fulvic & Humic

Today we’re going to take a quick look at Fulvic & Humic…

So, what are they and when do we use them?
First off let’s take a look at Fulvic acid…
What is Fulciv acid and why do we use it?
Fulvic acids are fast-acting, and form chelated complexes with nutrients, improving availability.
They also have a range of beneficial effects on plant biology, and applications from
pre-germination seed soak, all the way through to harvest. Fulvic acid also has notable
effects on root and root hair growth making it an extremely efficient root stimulator
(which is why application usually ends at flowering).
Recent peer-reviewed research has shown that Fulvic acid can be particularly effective
when applied as a foliar spray. Fulvic can be applied weekly or more often if desired:
perfect as a general tonic and health enhancer for houseplants, and as a low(er) carbon
input than Humic acids for hydroponics.
How often should you use Fulvic?
- Use weekly, in water, alone, or in nutrient solution.
- If you use in a spray: use weekly or as-needed in filtered or rain-water.

Next up, let’s take a closer look at Humic…
What is Humic and why do we use it?
“Humates” (Humic through to Fulvic acids) are a spectrum of naturally occurring
organic molecules found in leaf litter and fossilised in ancient lignite. They have a wide
range of plant-boosting attributes which vary depending on molecular size and weight.
Humic acids are larger and slower to act than Fulvics but form complexes with an even
wider range of elements, boosting availability and soil health. They also improve soil
structure, enhancing water retention and helping to build healthy microbial communities.
Made from sustainable sawdust, Humic is a great carbon source for beneficial
mycorrhizae and bacteria – perfect as an amendment to living soils or as a compost
accelerator. As with Fulvic, default application ends at flowering, but
houseplants, fruiting plants, and veg will benefit from the continued application.
How often should you use Humic?
Use weekly, in water, alone or in nutrient solution.
