Basic Oxypots – Deep Water Culture 

These Oxypot’s utilise a 21 Litre round bucket and a lid drilled to accept a 140mm mesh pot(included).
Deep Water Culture is a simple way of growing plants with water(hydroponics) that generates minimal waste.

Plants roots are submerged in a highly oxygenated nutrient solution to provide rapid growth, large yields and is a suitable technique for most plants that demand plenty of water.

An air pump and air stone are included, this keeps the water oxygenated.

Use

Plants are usually grown in rock wool blocks(usually 3 inch) until roots are established, transfer to a mesh basket and add clay pebbles below and around the block to provide support.

The plant is then watered until the roots are immersed in the nutrient solution at which point the plant will take up as much water as it requires.

Tips

Best practice is to replace the water at least once a week, have a spare bucket available so that you can fill to the required level with nutrient solution and then simply lift the plant, lid and mesh pot into the newly filled bucket.
