Air flow is always of the greatest importance in any greenhouse or grow room or straight ducting runs provide the best air flow. This isn’t always possible to achieve for a variety of reasons and sometimes ducting will need to go round corners or change direction.
Simply bending the ducting itself will create a lot of turbulence that will, in turn, reduce air flow and increase noise levels.
90 Degree Bends will smooth out the air flow, which will improve the performance of your ventilation system.
Design
90 degree bends from 4 inch(100mm) up to 8 inch(200mm) are formed with pressed steel and have a smooth, constant radius, 10 inch(250mm and 12 inch(315mm) have a segmented construction, this is to provide the additional strength needed to prevent the bend deforming due to the airflow of modern high power fans and adds 10 to 15mm to the external diameter.
Use
90 degree bends will fit into the appropriate sized ducting whether it is foil, combi or acoustic ducting, it is normally secured with Jubilee Clips or Duct Tape.
If the bend is to be connected to a fan, carbon filter, silencer or other metalwork, a Female Duct Connector will slide over both parts and can be secured with tape or screws to provide a permanent attachment. Alternatively, a Fast Clamp can be used to join the bend to another ventilation piece, these use 2 bolts to provide a connection that can be easily dismantled.
