The Multi Duct 6ft Double Complete gives all the usual advantages of the ever reliable NFT hydroponic method, but on a much bigger scale. This is two 6ft tables on a 180 litre tank with 2 support stands. Our 6ft Multi Duct double complete comes with 2 x Kit Bags meaning that you will receive 2 x MJ1000 pumps not 1, this means that the flow rate is not compromised.

How do Multi Ducts work?

Multi-Ducts are NFT(Nutrient Film Technique) growing systems which enable growers to manage a large number of plants from one nutrient reservoir.

Each Multi-Duct has long planting channels above its low profile reservoir. Plants are placed in rockwool blocks onto the channels and the roots grow along the channels where they have unrestricted access to oxygen. Nutrient solution is constantly pumped up from the reservoir to the channels and flows over the roots of the plants. Whatever the plants don’t use drains back into the reservoir ready to be passed over the roots again and the solution in the reservoir is emptied and replenished weekly to maintain a perfect balance of essential nutrient elements. The constant supply of water and nutrition to the roots combined with unlimited access to oxygen means growers find that plants are healthy, fast growing and can produce heavy yields.

Use

Spreader mat helps to provide even distribution of nutrient solution to the plants roots, so this used to line the channels of the table.

Plants are raised in rockwool blocks until roots are well established before placing on the table, large rockwool blocks have grooves on the bottom, make sure that the grooves point down the table, this should stop water damming up and over saturating the block.

The nutrient reservoir is filled with fresh water, and any nutrients that are to be used, before adjusting the ph(normally 5.7 – 6).

Water pumps are left on 24/7 to provide constant nutrition and hydration to the plants roots.

Tips

Establishing a good bed of roots before placing plants on the table should keep the rockwool block clear of the spreader mat, this will help to stop the rockwool becoming too saturated, this will help to prevent moulds that can cause damping off.

As with all hydroponic systems, it is very important to look after the water. Regular water changes, especially in hot weather or climates, help to keep the water oxygenated, Water Chillers are the best option as cooler water retains more oxygen and reduces the need for water changes.
